PG&E’s annual employee and retiree workplace giving campaign raises money for qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations and eligible schools. Through this program employees and retirees are encouraged and supported to engage on causes and issues that are meaningful to them. This includes a variety of flexible tools to support employee-led fundraising, volunteerism and a year-round employee giving campaign, PG&E’s Campaign for the Community, which matches their donations to nonprofit organizations and schools in their communities up to $1,000 per employee every year.

As 20,000 Californians who live and work in the communities we serve, the men and women of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) are passionate about giving back to the neighborhoods we share with our customers. Together, PG&E employees volunteered more than 70,000 hours last year in a range of charitable efforts across Northern and Central California.

“I appreciate the fact I work for a company that has options readily available to their employees to support causes that are personal and meaningful to them. We are part of the communities we serve and many of our employees are deeply involved with their local schools, charities and supporting causes that have touched them personally.”

Beginning in April through May 2019, PG&E held its sixth annual Month of Service where employees and their friends and families volunteered at more than 20 parks, schools and other community organizations across the state.

"Being able to volunteer through PG&E in the area I've lived my entire life is such an amazing opportunity. I get to meet wonderful people in the community and coworkers from other lines of business which makes me feel that I'm part of something so much bigger. From planting trees during Earth Day, to organizing clothes at the ARF Thrift Store; all of that allows me to make a difference in my own way."

In 2019, PG&E and The PG&E Corporation Foundation marked the 18th anniversary of our support of the California State Parks Foundation’s Annual Earth Day Park Restoration and Clean Up. PG&E volunteers across the state participated in restoration projects and family-friendly open houses at 8 state parks. We also worked with local partners in urban settings to help youth explore local green spaces and learn about climate resiliency.

Climate resiliency projects focused on preparing state parks for natural disasters were also completed in conjunction with Earth Day volunteer activities. These projects focused on brush removal/habitat management to make parks better able to cope with fires, drought, and other environmental impacts in the short term, and will bolster strategies to help make parks more resilient in dealing with the effects of climate change over time.

In 25 years of support of the State Parks Foundation, we have contributed nearly $3.5 million to protect and improve state parks throughout California.

"PG&E is one of California State Parks Foundation’s longest standing sponsors, supporting our work to inform and inspire current and future generations of passionate state park advocates. Through their commitment to our Earth Day celebration, they’ve funded grants for critical state park improvements and mobilized thousands of PG&E employees to volunteer their time with us on Earth Day and beyond."

Rachel Norton, Executive Director California State Parks Foundation
